Natural History Museum – Varna

Rating

The building of Varna’s Natural History Museum is located in the northern part of the Sea Garden and was built in 1917 – 1918 by the former Ministry of War. The creation of the initial museum fund began with the search and collection of materials and samples. The Hunting and Fishing Association and the Aquarium contributed to it by gratuitously offering stuffed birds. Stuffed mammals and birds were also bought from amateur stuffer Georgi Doykov.

The museum was officially unveiled on 22 July 1962. Varna’s Natural History Museum has been developing as a museum of the nature of the Black Sea (shelf geology, hydrology, the world of organisms) and of the entire strip of land along the Bulgarian coast with its sand-loving flora and fauna, its riparian forests and coastal lakes.
