City Art Gallery – Blagoevgrad
The exhibition halls were founded in 1970 and then lent to the Bulgarian Artist Union – Blagoevgrad. For many years they have served the artists of Blagoevgrad and have presented their works in front of guests from the country and abroad. In 1987 Stoyan Sotirov Gallery was founded, named after the founder of the artists’ professional associations in the country. During this long period the artists of Blagoevgrad grew and the gallery developed its professional activity. The halls have held many shared, regional, group and solo exhibitions. Some of Bulgaria’s biggest artists have been guests to the gallery – Dimitar Kirov, Maria Stolarova, Georgi Bozhilov – Slona, Svetlin Rusev, Vladimir Peshev. Works by world-renowned masters have also been presented. The gallery has also shown paintings by Vladimir Dimitrov – the Master.
In 2013 the exhibitions became property of the Blagoevgrad Municipality and the gallery was renamed City Art Gallery. It is located in the centre of Blagoevgrad at Krali Marko Str 8.
