Art Gallery – Stara Zagora
Stara Zagora’s Art Gallery owns over 4000 works. They are divided in six departments: Painting, Graphics, Sculpture, Icon Painting, Revival Engraving and Applied Arts. They features works by almost all Bulgarian artists of the past two centuries. The gallery also encompasses the variety of the major artistic phenomena in Bulgaria’s art. For its 100-year old history, Stara Zagora’s Art Gallery has held more than a thousand and two hundred expositions and exhibitions, some of which have been guests to almost all Bulgarian galleries as well as to art museums in the Czech Republic, Portugal, Great Britain, Russia, India, Germany, Serbia and others.
After settling down in its new building, each year the gallery presents about 25 exhibitions of works from its own fund, co-exhibitions with other galleries, touring exhibitions from the country or abroad and so on. Since 2004 Stara Zagora’s gallery has been a main organiser of the ‘Myths and Legends of My People’ Balkan Painting Quadriennnale. With the richness of its funds and its exhibition and promotion activity it stands among the country’s most significant art galleries.
